School systems are changing how they teach reading so that more kids leave school with the reading skills they need to succeed. In Mississippi, a decade-long effort to transform the state’s approach to reading led to substantial improvements on national achievement tests. And in DC schools, change is underway that is already showing promise in the early grades.
